Hilbert College has been awarded a $420,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, marking the sixth consecutive year the College has received this support for Hilbert’s Franciscan Advocacy & Resource Center . The funding will continue to sustain student success at Hilbert, providing critical services that help students navigate life challenges, remain enrolled, and thrive both during their time at Hilbert and beyond.
“At a time when many families are being asked to do more with less, the Foundation remains focused on showing up in tangible ways for people across New York,” said Jennifer Balbach, Finance Committee Chair of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Board and Partner at Summer Street Capital Partners in Buffalo, NY. “These investments prioritize everyday stability, from access to nutritious food and safe housing to mental health care, and reflect our belief that long-term community well-being begins with practical, people-centered support.”
“We are deeply grateful to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for their continued commitment to students across New York State,” said Michael R. Cornell, Interim President of Hilbert College. “At Hilbert, more than half of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and 30% percent are the first in their families to go to college. Serving these students is at the heart of our mission. With the Foundation’s sustained support, we are able to turn generational barriers into generational opportunity, giving our students the care, resources, and support they need to succeed and empower others.”
The $420,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation will help Hilbert support students through initiatives focused on:
- Student accessibility, success, and retention
- Campus Ministry outreach, including the Campus Food Pantry
- Student mental health and well-being
- Student scholarships and emergency funding
- Collaborative learning and community building
This year’s funding will boost Hilbert’s mental health and wellness programs, fight food insecurity, and expand emergency aid and scholarships, giving students the support they need to succeed today and thrive tomorrow.
