ABOUT DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Mission Statement

The mission of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Hilbert College is to build an inclusive campus environment that promotes diversity awareness, academic excellence, multicultural education, student learning and development.

Vision Statement

Our office envisions the campus community as a living and learning community which creates inclusive and diverse learning opportunities for students, faculty, and staff through thoughtful programming, collaboration, and community engagement.

Goals

Campus community members who participate in our thoughtfully informed programs, trainings, and other co-curricular opportunities will:

Goals

  • Increase their awareness of their cultural identity developmental process and in return demonstrate greater appreciation for other cultures and other’s identity development journey.
  • Increase their ability to engage in respectful and cooperative dialogues as it pertains to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Reflect knowledge and skills garnered through partnership and learning with OMASJI in their hiring practices, programs, trainings, workshops, and engagements with the campus community and greater Western New York community.
  • Model leadership which incorporates critical thinking, moral courage, social responsibility, and promotes awareness of social justice issues on campus, in the community, and in society.

Commitment Statement

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Hilbert College is committed to building an environment that values and respects every person regardless of gender, age, race, sexual preference, socioeconomic level, physical ability, cultural background, religion, nationality, or beliefs.
