Academic Regalia Request

Please complete the application to request approval for honor cords or graduation stoles to be worn during the commencement ceremony. All requests received will be reviewed in a timely manner and a decision will be made within 10 business days. 

All applications must be received by March 23rd and submitted to Eileen Stack at estack@hilbert.edu in order to be processed for the 2019 commencement ceremonies.

Hilbert College holds all of its graduates in high esteem and graduates who have earned special achievements may wear a ceremonial medal, cord(s), or stole.  The preapproved examples include:

  • Graduates of the Honors Program
  • Inductees into the Blue and White Society
  • Inductees from the English Society, Sigma Tau Delta

Academic Regalia is defined as

Traditional articles of clothing worn during academic ceremonies.  Please note the difference between honor cords and stoles. 

Honor Cords: Signify specific academic achievement or membership in a recognized academic honor group or society.

Stoles: A decorative vestment worn by students who are members of college organizations for the purpose of recognizing membership or achievement.

Although a graduate may receive multiple honor cords, stoles, pins or medals please note that only one of each may be worn during the commencement ceremony.
