Bio:
Daniel Walczak has served with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office since 2003. Prior to his police service he was an Infantry Sergeant in the United States Army where as a member of the 101st Airborne Division he deployed to Afghanistan in 2001.
Detective Walczak graduated the FBI’s Hazardous Devices School in 2005, and became Commander of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad in 2007.
He is a distinguished graduate of Hilbert College and holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2017 he was awarded the Distinguished Researchers Award and is a current member of Kappa Gamma Pi.In April of 2021, Detective Daniel Walczak received
a Congressional Commendation for rescuing a man from a fire.
Detective Walczak has completed numerous law enforcement certifications and a variety of training experiences. He is a certified tactical bomb technician (TBT), maritime bomb technician (MBT), and dive master. Detective Walczak was alsoa member of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team for fifteen years.
As Commander of the Bomb Squad, Detective Walczak has successfully improved the technical capabilities of his unit through the use of targeted grant funding. His professionalism has allowed him to facilitate the interoperability of the Bomb Squad, SWAT Team,Explosive Detection Canine Unit, and Underwater Recovery Team. He resides in Erie County, New York with his wife and son.
