HAMBURG, N.Y. – Teen singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger, a rising pop sensation whose debut album, “Underage Thinking,” came in number eight on the Billboard chart, will headline this year’s Hilbert College Fall Fest.
The Sept. 13 concert will kick off with the rock-reggae sounds of More Than Me at 7:15 p.m. in the Hafner Recreation Center with Geiger’s performance slated for 8 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the general seating event.
A self-taught musician, Geiger was discovered by the music industry as a finalist on VH1’s “In Search of the New Partridge Family,” which led to a deal with Columbia Records. He also attracted attention in his role as a budding songwriting prodigy on the show “Love Monkey.”
Only 17, Geiger was writing and arranging original compositions on guitar and piano by the time he was 8-years-old. His raspy vocals combined with sophisticated lyrics have won critical acclaim and he’s has been compared to John Mayer and Chris Martin.
Geiger, a Rochester native, has opened for numerous national artists, including Kelly Clarkson, The Click 5, Gavin DeGraw, and Fall Out Boy.
Teddy Geiger concert tickets are $5 for local college students and Hilbert faculty and staff, and $10 for the public. Hilbert students may attend at no cost.
Advance tickets may be purchased by contacting Jason Enser, director of student activities, at 926-8932 or e-mail jenser@hilbert.edu. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.
A pep rally featuring the Hilbert Hawks sports teams will be held for the Hilbert community preceding the concert at 6:30 p.m. in the rec center.
