FROSTBURG, MD – Hilbert College’s Lucy Zver (Troupsburg, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) and Amanda McHale (Bradford, PA/Archbishop Walsh) scored 25 points apiece, but it wasn’t enough as Frostburg State topped the Lady Hawks 77-73 Saturday. With the win the Bobcats improve to 15-8 overall and 10-6 in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) while the Hawks fall to 2-20 (2-14).
The host Bobcats shot 50% from the field during the first twenty minutes of play and overcame an early 17-14 deficit to take a 41-35 lead at the half. The winners would grab 23 offensive rebounds on the afternoon and convert 17 of 23 free throws despite connecting on just 12 of 36 field goals in the second stanza.
The Bobcats Krystin Hargrove poured in 25 points while Amanda LaPorta scored 16 and Tracie George 12. George also finished with eight rebounds to go along with eight assists and four steals while being counted on for all forty minutes.
McHale added 18 rebounds and four blocks for the Hawks. Kaitlyn Miller (Depew, NY/Depew) chipped in with 11 points while Courtney Deville (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) scored 10 points in a losing effort. The Hawks shot 51.9% from the floor in the second-half and held the Bobcats scoreless from beyond the arc.
Hilbert will regroup for a 6:00 pm game on Wednesday at the University of Pitt-Bradford.
