HAMBURG, NY – Hilbert College director of Athletics Richard Walsh has announced the appointment of Andrew Walker as the Hawks new men’s volleyball coach.
The first-year college coach will face the challenge of rebuilding a program that did not compete in intercollegiate play in 2007. Walker will begin preparations for the Hawks to resume play in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) this spring.
“Andy brings a lot of natural enthusiasm and energy”, said Wash. “I’m sure he’ll do an excellent job moving our program in the right direction”.
Walker recently served as the boys 18 and under coach with the Power Station Volleyball Club from 2003-2005. His 2003 squad reached the semifinals of the East Coast Championships. Prior to joining Power Station, Walker enjoyed success as the boys 17 and under mentor with the Eden Volleyball Club. His 2002 team captured the East Coast Championship while his teams also took three straight Western Empire Volleyball Association crowns.
At the scholastic level, Walker served as the boys’ varsity coach at Canisius High School from 1999-2001 where his program won two Monsignor Martin League titles. Prior to working at the varsity level, he led the Canisius junior varsity team to consecutive league championships.
A graduate of Buffalo State College, Walker captained the Bengals club team for two years before earning a B.S. in business studies.
Walker currently resides in Eden, NY.
