
FROSTBURG, MD – Four different Bobcats scored goals as Frostburg State shutout ilbert College 5-0 Saturday in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men’s soccer action. The loss drops the Hawks to 1-8-2 overall and 0-4 in the AMCC.
The Bobcats held the Hawks without a shot for the first 45:00 and didn’t score until the 24:10 mark. On what would turn out to be the game winning goal, Hilbert’s Patrick Coleman (Blasdell, NY/Frontier) inadvertently headed the ball into his own net giving the home team a 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Frostburg’s Greg Bistony made it 2-0 at 64:30 and Adam Gracia answered 4:33 later to up the lead to three-nil. Alex Super scored at 74:57 and the Bobcats’ Joe DiCicco rounded out the scoring with the fifth and final goal with just under four minutes remaining.
Starting Hilbert keeper Eric Davies (Tonawanda, NY/Tonawanda) recorded four saves before being relieved by Chris Hannel (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga) who also stopped four shots. The Bobcats (6-5-1, 2-1-1) held a 25-2 edge in shots with the win, slide into fifth place in the AMCC.
Hilbert will return home to face conference foe Lake Erie College on Tuesday, October 9th in a 2:00 pm match.
