Gibsonia, PA—The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced today (December 1, 2008) that sophomore guard Andy Marchand (Rochester, NY/C.G. Finney) was selected men’s basketball Player of the Week. Marchand averaged 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in three games last week. The Hawks went 1-2 in those contests, defeating Alfred in overtime and falling to Allegheny College and Baldwin-Wallace College.

Against Alfred University, the sophomore connected on a free throw opportunity with: 01 remaining in regulation to tie the contest 58-58, and send the game to the extra session.

After scoring 40 points in two games in the National City/Allegheny College Tournament, Marchand was named to the all-tournament team for his stellar efforts.

Marchand is a Liberal Studies major at the college with a 3.59 gpa.
