Richard Walsh, Director of Athletics at Hilbert College, has announced the hiring of David Vesneske and Steve Spillman to the athletic department's coaching staffs effective immediately. Vesneske completes Peter Yuhas' softball staff while Spillman is the first hire to Jonathan Musialowski's baseball staff.
“Dave brings a tremendous amount of softball knowledge to our staff. His greatest asset is his ability to teach both offensive and defensive pressure techniques that will make us a better team,” said Yuhas in his introduction of his second assistant coach. Since 1999, Vesneske has been involved in the Hamburg Breakers Girls Fastpitch travel softball program at different levels of leadership. Prior to that, he served as the head coach for the Junior Baseball league as well as a youth soccer coach in Hamburg.

Musialowski said “I am very excited to have Steve join our coaching staff. He’s been a strong competitor throughout his career and will be counted on to draw from those experiences when working with our guys”. Spillman was a walk-on baseball player at Canisius College from 2003-2007. His Division I career stats list him with 67 games played and 53 starts earned. During his freshman year, he lead the team in put-outs (173) and finished second in fielding percentage (.973). In what would be his best weekend series in 2004, Spillman's .416 batting average (3 doubles) lead the Griffs against Niagara University. Spillman is still active in the WNY baseball community playing on the West Herr team in the Buffalo AAA-MUNY league each summer. To see Spillman’s complete bio,
