HAMBURG, NY – Emili Ripley continued her home run hitting streak after hitting a long dinger in both games of the double header April 14. The Hawks swept Franciscan 19-3 (5 innings) and 12-7 to improve to 3-9 in AMCC league standings. Devan Jonathan {#31 in picture to right} struck seven out in the early win, and Ripley went the distance earning eight ‘K’s to claim her second win of the season.
In the first contest, Rachel Collier {#26 in picture to right} led the Hawks with four hits and one RBI. Natalie Whitman went three for four, including a homerun and totaled three RBIs. Ripley contributed a long-ball of her own, going two for three from the plate and racking up three RBIs. Jonathan also played well offensively, finding a place just past the left field fence for a homer of her own and tallying four RBIs. Halsey Baker went three for four from the plate, adding three RBIs in the early game. Jill Martucci (one RBI), Amber Grosch, Kateland Ball, Tiffany Marchiano, and Allison Hall (two RBIs) all added hits for Hilbert. Collectively, Hilbert had 20 hits for the game.
In the later game, Hilbert had hot sticks again, combining for a total of 15 hits and defensively holding Franciscan to just eight. Ripley recorded a double and hit another shot over the fence for the Hawks. Baker went two for four, adding a homer of her own and another double and helping out with three RBIs. Whitman had another stellar outing at the plate, going three for four with two RBIs. Martucci recorded two doubles, Grosch hit in two runs, and Hall brought three runners home in the second game. Ball was credited for a base hit while Vicki Ernst picked up two hits and an RBI.
Hilbert advances to 7-14 overall and will be on the road this week before returning to Hamburg to host Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, April 21 at 1 and 3pm.
