ERIE, PA - Both the men's and women's basketball teams from Hilbert College went down in defeat tonight against Penn State Behrend suffering Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference road losses.
The Behrend women played with the same focus displayed two days ago when they soundly defeated La Roche College, the defending AMCC champions. The Lions (7-2, 9-5) extended their 45-18 half time advantage to a 86-42 final. Natalie Whitman led the Hawks (1-8, 3-13) with 10 points and five rebounds. Hilbert forced 14 Behrend turnovers, but the Lions finished the game shooting 47.8% from the floor compared to the Hawks 29%. Lauren Eggleston netted a career high nine points making five of eight free throws.

Anthony Hodge was six for six from the foul line to finish with 18 points for Hilbert (6-3, 12-4) in their tough 68-61 loss to Behrend, who just came off a triple over-time loss to La Roche College on Saturday. The Hawks held Behrend (6-2, 10-5) to a dismal 29% shooting from the floor the first half, but the Lions took a 25-24 lead at the break by sinking one more three pointer than the visitors. Both teams executed their offenses better in the second half, with Hilbert improving to 42% while the Lions sizzled the net at 72%. Behrend sank 13 of 18 shots from the floor and were 15 of 19 at the foul line to grab the seven point win. Hilbert out-rebounded the hosts by one and grabbed 14 offensive boards. Trevor Stark chipped in 10 points and Dan McFarland added eight (five assists) as did CJ Hodge (four steals).
