Hilbert took charge early in the game and never surrendered their lead. Jordan Kumro’s jumper at 12:49 broke the seal and accelerated the Hawks to a double-digit lead. On three separate occasions Hilbert stretched the difference to 19 points, but they settled for a 12-point half time lead (47-35). At no point in the second half did Altoona challenge the Hawks who coasted to a 19-point win in their last game in January.
Hilbert finished the game shooting 54% from the floor and 54% from beyond the three-point line. The Hawks made six of the eleven long distance shots, their best shooting percentage this year. Both teams were credited with 38 rebounds but Hilbert, again, took care of the ball and ended with only six turnovers for the 40-minute game.
Trevor Stark added 14 points and Anthony Hodge chipped in 13, along with dishing 8 assists. Kumro was nearly unstoppable from the floor going five of six inside the arc and earned one traditional three-point play along the way.
Hilbert has a week off from games before they play their next contest February 2 in Hamburg. Mount Aloysius makes an appearance in the Hafner Center for the first time this season and the Hawks are looking for revenge, having dropped an 85-83 AMCC game January 5th.
Mount Aloysius is currently in a four-way tie for 1st place while Hilbert sits in 5th place with five games left before play-offs.
