The Hilbert College men’s soccer team fell to La Roche College in a rain soaked affair, Saturday afternoon at the Hilbert College soccer field. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 5-11 overall, 2-6 in AMCC play.
La Roche led 2-0 at the half, and scored the first goal of the second half to build a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Kevin Parkinson-Olivares (San Jose, Costa Rica/Louisburg College) scored the first Hilbert goal to cut the lead to 3-1. Olivares’ goal was his first marker of the year. Assisting on the goal was freshman Eric Russell (Marilla, NY/Iroquois). La Roche pushed the lead to 4-1 before freshman Zach Cantie (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) scored the second goal for the Hawks. Sophomore Greg Lake (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) assisted on Cantie’s goal.
Freshman Scott Walker (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) made 10 saves in net for Hilbert.
La Roche outshot Hilbert 25-12 on the afternoon.
The Hawks close out their regular season Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. The Hawks will honor their 3 seniors prior to the match.
