HAMBURG, N.Y. -- Personal care, baby items, gift cards and many other needed items are being collected to assist local families served by Gateway-Longview, a community service project being organized by Hilbert College honors student Samantha Hahn.
An intern at the child and family service organization, Hahn noted donations will benefit youngsters and families who are receiving temporary care services, including children who may be living in temporary homes provided by family members and friends.
“Oftentimes, these individuals have few or no basic items with them during this transition period. Donations to the collection drive will help this wonderful organization and those being served and the individuals who have opened their hearts and homes to children in need,” said Hahn, who resides in Alden.
Among the various items sought for donation are baby supplies (pacifiers, bottles, formula, diapers, etc.), bedding and pillows, toiletries, shoes, new or gently used adult and children’s clothing, furniture, and gift cards.
Donations may be dropped off through May 3 at donation boxes located around Hilbert’s campus. More information is available by contacting Amy Smith, Ph.D., director of the Honors Program, at 926-8877 or e-mail asmith@hilbert.edu.
