GROVE CITY, PA – Mario Williams earned three points in the 6-2 Hilbert loss to Grove City College in men’s soccer September 8. Paul Liedkie made a second half appearance in goal and made six saves for Hilbert.
Grove City scored four straight goals before the Hawks responded with a William’s score in the 42nd minute. Andrew Quinn netted his first goal of the day by way of a penalty kick at 13:42 and then, only twenty-two seconds later, he scored again. Jonathan Rothgeb netted the Wolverines third goal and assisted on the fourth before Williams scored his first collegiate goal via the game’s second penalty kick taken. Jordan Lynch found the back of net at 68:07 to finish the Hilbert scoring.
Austin Mathis led the Hawks with three shots, followed by the two goal-scorers who broke free for two shots each. Grove City doubled Hilbert on shots and corner kicks for the afternoon game played in wet conditions.
Hilbert (0-4) returns to Hamburg for their home-opener September 11 when they host Alfred University at 4pm.
