HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College women’s soccer team fell 5-0 to cross-town rival Medaille College September 25 dropping their first Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference game. Candis Kapuscinski’s four assists contributed to the Mavericks scoring success against the Hawks.
Hilbert’s Nicole Blair switched to center mid today and led the Hawks’ attack. Her three shots on goal and consistent play defensively gave the host team some life on the field. Mary Mabon earned the other Hilbert shot on goal. Erin Smith (1 save) took the loss in the goal and Ariana Scheidt {in photo to right} backed her up with two saves.
Medaille (4-5, 2-0) controlled the pace of the game, outshooting Hilbert 18-6. The Mavericks did not have any multiple goal scorers, but Kapuscinski contributed to the game’s first four scores. In the 60th minute, Katie Botsford placed an unassisted ball in the upper ninety which finished the scoring for the day.
Hilbert (2-6-1, 0-1-1) hits the road again this weekend for their third AMCC contest when they face Pitt-Greensburg September 29.
