Game One Box Game Two Box
HAMBURG, NY – The Hilbert College baseball team hosted their last double header of the 2013 season on April 30 and they suffered two losses to Fredonia State (18-14) 17-3 and 8-4.
The opening game was a close affair with Hilbert holding a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning after Chris Hoak whacked a 3 run-home run. Fredonia responded with just one run in the top of the fourth, before they exploded with 15 runs the last three innings.
A similar result was brewing in the second game with Fredonia holding a 3-1 lead after the 3rd inning. But in the top half of the 5th, the Blue Devils hit seven singles which resulted in five runs creating a large enough spread to hold on for the victory.
Hoak finished with three hits including one home run as he knocked in 4 runs on the day. Paul Wujek went 5 for 7 (.714) to lead the Hawks at the plate.
Tony Marra carried the Hawks through 4.2 innings striking out four while giving up eight hits in the first game. Garrett Pauly went the distance in the night game giving up 14 hits with 50% of those occurring in the fifth inning alone.
Hilbert (3-29) finishes their 2013 season with a road non-conference game at Keuka College May 2.
