BUFFALO, NY – The Hilbert College women’s volleyball team split their opening day AMCC vs. NEAC Challenge games played at D’Youville College August 31. Hilbert dropped a 3-1 match to Keuka College who finished the day (2-0) and then swept Morrisville State 3-0 in the night cap. D’Youville mirrored Hilbert’s 1-1 record and Morrisville went back to central New York empty-handed going 0-2 in the Challenge.
Keuka captured a 25-15, 25-20, 21-25, 25-21 victory in the 12pm match. Junior Jordan Botsford (Penfield, NY/Penfield) finished with 8 kills and 3 service aces. Senior Chelsea Reischuck (South Wales, NY/East Aurora) added 7 kills and 15 digs, while junior Ashley Viegnmay (Cheektowaga, NY/Maryvale/Erie CC ) led with 20 digs.
In Hilbert’s 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 win over Morrisville Botsford hit for double-digit kills (12) and again snuck in 3 aces. Freshman Amanda Binder (Fremont, OH/St. Joseph Central Catholic) found 8 kills and 3 blocks from the middle position. And senior Shannon Memminger added 25 assists. As a team, the Hawks finished with 10 service aces on route to the quick match victory.
Hilbert hosts their home opener September 4 when Geneseo comes to the Hafner Center with a 7pm first serve. The Blue Knights enter the non-conference game with a 1-2 overall record.
