HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College will unveil a 6-foot Hawk statue in the Hilbert Campus Quad on Friday, April 24 at 3 p.m. as part of this year’s Quad Party celebration. The Hawk is Hilbert’s athletics mascot, and the statue is a gift of a Hilbert student group, Leadership Corps, and a generous alumni donor, Ted VanDeusen ’90. The statue stands 6-foot tall, but also has an equally impressive wingspan, which will provide a substantial presence on Hilbert’s campus.
VanDeusen ’90 made a significant donation to make the Hawk statue become a reality. He has maintained a lifelong relationship with Hilbert since graduating and was a leader of the Alumni Association from 1990-98. He is a Hamburg resident.
Hilbert’s 18th Annual Quad Party celebrates the end of the semester. This year the party will feature an ‘Olympic’ theme and teams of students will compete for prizes and rewards. The end-of-semester celebration starts at 3 p.m. with the unveiling of Hilbert’s Hawk statue.
The Hawk will be formally dedicated and placed permanently on campus this fall during True Blue Weekend on October 2-3.
