-- 24 Hour Live Broadcast Celebrates College Radio Day --
HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College’s mascot, Bert the Hawk, will be relegated to a small island on the campus pond until the college’s web radio station, HAWK Radio, collects 200 donations of personal items for homeless youth. Bert will be transported to the island on Thursday, October 5 at 3 PM and HAWK Radio will begin a 24-hour live broadcast to solicit donations and celebrate College Radio Day 2017.
Listeners of HAWK Radio can visit the live broadcast outside of Franciscan Hall and donate personal items to support Compass House, a Western New York based not-for-profit, which provides young men and women shelter, counseling, and other services. All donors will be eligible to participate in activities and win prizes.
HAWK Radio’s special live broadcast will showcase the many student-produced programs than run weekly on the station, while simultaneously soliciting donations for Compass House and celebrating the legacy of college radio. Listeners can follow Bert’s adventures as a castaway on #HawkIsland via all of Hilbert College’s social media (facebook, twitter, and Instagram). HAWK Radio can be accessed from any web browser (on any computer or mobile device) at http://hawkradio.hilbert.edu.
