HAMBURG, N.Y. – David M. Reis, Ph.D., an experienced professor and administrator, has been appointed the director of first year programs at Hilbert College. He will begin in August 2018.
Most recently, Reis served as the lead academic coach at the University of Idaho, where he collaborated to launch the university’s academic coaching program. He taught College Success Strategies, an introductory interdisciplinary course focused on achieving academic and professional success.
Previously, Reis has served as a faculty fellow at the University of Oregon, where he created academic communities in the residence halls of first-year students. He has also taught in Religious Studies programs at the University of Oregon, Bridgewater College, and the College of Santa Fe, and has lectured with the Semester at Sea program.
Reis has experience in leadership and management of academic departments, programs, and offices. He has served as a presenter and public speaker at national and international conferences and has published numerous essays on early Christianity.
Reis earned his Ph.D. in Religion from Claremont Graduate University, and he has two master’s degrees – Master of Arts in Religion from Claremont and Master of Arts in History from Creighton University. Reis, a native of Vancouver, Wa., currently resides in Idaho and plans to move to the Western New York area over the summer.
