Hilbert College Launches Biology Program

Jun 05, 2020

-- Bachelor of Arts in Biology now enrolling for fall 2020 --

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College announced a new program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, Hilbert’s first Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) major. Applications for the new program are now being accepted for Fall 2020.

“This new biology program will open doors for our students to pursue advanced science degrees in medicine, dentistry, and more,” Hilbert President Michael S. Brophy, Ph.D., M.F.A. said.  “It’s truly a transformational program for Hilbert, making our Catholic, Franciscan private college education possible for more students.”

Hilbert’s biology program will provide students with a quality experience in the biological sciences within a strong liberal arts education. The program is intended to provide the credentials and skills necessary for students who wish to pursue careers in biological sciences. This undergraduate program would build upon the current strengths of Hilbert College in Forensic Science and Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation programs. Hilbert College has constructed a new, state-of-the-art laboratory to meet the needs of this program.

Consistent with Hilbert College’s mission, students in the Biology Program will be pursuing an educational program and career path that values strengthening communities through service.  The Biology program will open opportunities for Hilbert College students to pursue STEM and healthcare related programs after graduation. Students will be able to pursue careers in health professions such as pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, medicine and veterinary services.  More information on Hilbert’s biology program is available here- https://www.hilbert.edu/biology.

Hilbert College, located in suburban Hamburg, N.Y., south of Buffalo, is a private four-year college founded in 1957 in the Catholic Franciscan tradition. With nearly 800 students, Hilbert is a dynamic Western New York college that offers career-focused majors, including one of the top criminal justice programs in the region, and more than 50 minors and concentrations. The college’s engaging, student-centered campus community offers numerous leadership, internship, and service learning opportunities from which students launch successful careers while making positive changes in their communities. The Hilbert Blueprint promotes a well-rounded student experience over four years – starting with the Foundations Seminar in the freshman year, followed by Sophomore Service, Junior Symposium, and culminating with the Senior Capstone. Hilbert has expanded its academic offerings with the college’s first graduate programs in criminal justice administration and public administration, including a track in health administration.
