HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College Director of Athletics Tim Seil and Head Football Coach Jim Kubiak announced the hiring of six assistant football coaches – Chuck Lester (Football Production), Marc Pope (Defensive Assistant), Richard Posey (Linebackers), John Scibetta (Offensive Line/Tight Ends/Run Game Coordinator), Justin Sherlock (Recruiting – Western Region), and Brian Taylor (Defensive Coordinator/ Defensive Backs). The Hawk Football program will kickoff its inaugural season on September 10, 2022 as they host Denison University at the St. Francis High School Polian Family Field.
Chuck Lester will serve as assistant coach/football production for the Hawks. Lester has worked in various football coaching roles since the mid-1970s, including over two decades with the Buffalo Bills. He has coached numerous All-Americans (at the University of Oklahoma) and All-Pros in the NFL. He served as the linebackers coach for the AFC in the 1989 Pro Bowl.
Marc Pope will serve as a defensive assistant with the Hawks. Pope spent the last three years at Canisius High School. He served as the defensive coordinator for the junior varsity team and a defensive assistant for the varsity squad.
Richard Posey will serve as the Hawks’ inaugural linebackers coach. Posey brings seven years of coaching experience, including time at Canisius High School and Niagara Falls High School.
John Scibetta will serve as the offensive line/tight ends coach and run game coordinator for the Hawks. Scibetta brings 40+ years of coaching experience and is currently an instructor at the Western New York Quarterback Academy. He also helped former Canisius College basketball player Chris Manhertz transition to an NFL tight end.
Justin Sherlock will serve as a recruiting coach in the western region for the Hawks. Sherlock has coaching experience at Fredonia High School and helped develop several great prospects, including current Division I recruit Nick Whitfield, Jr.
Brian Taylor is the Hawks’ inaugural defensive coordinator. Most recently, Taylor was the defensive coordinator at Canisius High School, where he helped lead the Crusaders to eight Monsignor Martin Championships and three New York State Catholic Championships. He played defensive back in the NFL, including one year with the Buffalo Bills.
