I am thrilled to be teaching and leading within the Sport Industry Management (SIM) program here at Hilbert College! Small class sizes provide a unique experience for students to learn and engage in during insightful conversations with each other, while growing as future sport industry leaders.
I have been teaching in Sport Industry Management for over 12 years and have experience in the sport industry as well, working in areas such as marketing, communication, media relations, event planning and writing.
I have experience teaching at the community college and university levels during this time. I started at Jamestown Community College implementing sport management classes and then accepted a faculty position at SUNY Fredonia within Sport Management where I taught in Sport Management for over 10 years.
During that time, I served as the faculty advisor of Sport Management Club, along with implementing our annual Super Bowl trip where students served as volunteers for a week in areas such as marketing, event planning, gameday operations, etc.
I have a passion for teaching students aspiring to work in the sport industry along with sharing real-world experiences with them within my own experiences as a sport industry professional. I have learned quicky that being able to share with students my real-world experiences working in the sport industry reinforces to them of the sheer joy and adrenaline rush the sport industry provides.
I enjoy seeing students grow in the classroom while realizing their potential to become a sport industry professional through classroom discussions, projects, presentations and sporting event trips such as the Super Bowl.
My philosophy is, “You grow as a sport industry professional one conversation at a time.” I believe in the power of networking and connecting with sport executives from all sport sectors. The sport industry is constantly changing, and I am a firm believer of adapting with it, especially with the technological advancements of analytics and social media. I have developed connections with sport industry executives within the NFL, NBA, MLB and the NHL, along with those in minor league sports.
