The Hilbert College Reads program is a common intellectual reading experience that engages students and creates a sense of community through cross-disciplinary conversations.

Every year, the Hilbert College Reads committee selects a text and invites the author to present on campus. This event is open to the local community.

Craig and Fred: A Marine, A Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other by Craig Grossi

Craig & Fred: A Marine, A Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other book cover
Craig and Fred: A Marine, A Stray Dog, and How They Rescued Each Other by Craig Grossi is the 2022-23 Hilbert Reads selection.  This inspiring story of the life-changing friendship between Craig Grossi and Fred, a dog Grossi finds in Afghanistan while serving in the Marines, is a story of hope, resilience, and "stubborn positivity."

On Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in Swan Auditorium,  Craig Grossi will speak to the Hilbert community about his and Fred's experiences.  We look forward to welcoming Craig and Fred to campus for this year's Hilbert Reads program.
