Dual Enrollment Program

Expand all Collapse all
  • Why is it called “Dual” Enrollment?

Dual Enrollment courses are Hilbert College courses that are offered at a high school location during the regular school day and are taught by a high school teacher whose background is similar to an on-campus adjunct.  The “dual” part refers to the feature that the course runs concurrently with a high school class (is embedded in the high school class format), and counts as BOTH credit toward high school graduation, as well as college credit.

  • Which high schools offer Hilbert Dual Enrollment courses?

View a list of our partner high schools on our Partnership page.

  • What courses are offered through Hilbert’s Dual Enrollment Program?

View our full list of available Hilbert Dual Enrollment courses. Not every course on this list will be offered at a student’s high school since this is dependent on the high school’s ability to run particular courses.  To find out which courses are offered at a specific high school, contact the school’s guidance counselor or email us at dualenrollment@hilbert.edu.

  • How do I request that a Dual Enrollment course be taught at my school or apply to be a Dual Enrollment Instructor?

    Please contact us at dualenrollment@hilbert.edu.

  • Is there a cost to take a Dual Enrollment course?

There is a charge of $75 per credit hour and a $35 registration fee for each dual enrollment course that a student wishes to register and receive college credits for.  This is paid through an online payment system after a student fills out the Dual Enrollment online application.  A student may be eligible for a free or reduced tuition fee based on financial need as determined by the student’s high school guidance office.

  • Am I automatically enrolled for college credit if I'm in a high school Dual Enrollment course?

In order to be eligible to receive college credit for your high school Dual Enrollment course, you must officially register by filling out the Dual Enrollment application via the link on the Hilbert Dual Enrollment webpage during the open registration period and pay the $200 course tuition fee through the online payment system.  Your high school teacher will then receive an official roster of students who have successfully registered for the Dual Enrollment course college credits.

  • Are Dual Enrollment courses only good for credit at Hilbert College, or can be they used for credit at other colleges and universities?

Earned Dual Enrollment course credits can be used towards a Hilbert College degree or transferred to any college or university degree program, subject to that institution’s transfer credit policy.  It is the responsibility of the student to check with the institution they plan on attending regarding their transfer credit policy and degree requirements to determine if their Dual Enrollment course credits can be applied to their chosen degree program, as each institution sets its own policy regarding the acceptance of transfer credit.

  • How do I actually receive college credit for my Dual Enrollment courses and how do I request a transcript?

In order to receive the college credits for a Dual Enrollment course, a final grade of C or better must be earned in the course (some colleges may require a minimum grade of B).  If a student will be attending Hilbert College, any Dual Enrollment credits earned will be automatically applied to their degree program.  If a student will be attending another college or university, the student must request an official transcript from Hilbert College to be sent to the institution they will be attending.

To request a transcript for  Dual Enrollment courses, please fill out the request form electronically.

Make sure to select that you are a Dual Enrollment student in order to have the $5 transcript fee waived.  Please note that Dual Enrollment transcripts will not be available until final course grades have been submitted by the course instructor.

For any additional questions about transcripts and credits, please contact the Registrar’s office at studentrecords@hilbert.edu.
