HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College’s forensic science program is ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to Plexuss.com. Additionally, Plexuss ranks Hilbert’s cybersecurity program as No. 8 in the nation.
“This national recognition is a testament to our tremendous faculty,” Hilbert President Michael S. Brophy, Ph.D. said. “Their continuous focus on improvement and unmatched emphasis on student success drives these, and all of our, programs forward.”
Included in the college rankings for these programs are undergraduate, 4-year colleges and universities that offer a bachelor’s degree in the respective programs. In determining which institutions have the best undergraduate forensic science and cybersecurity programs, Plexuss utilized data from the Department of Education. Plexuss looked at key factors such as graduation rates, admissions yield, program popularity, and student retention rate. To create a more encompassing ranking system, Plexuss then incorporated subject-specific rankings from the most prominent reputable ranking sources available: U.S. News, Times Higher Education, QS, and ARWU to generate their final list.
Hilbert’s forensic science program focuses on the analysis of evidence in laboratory settings, while crime scene investigation involves the proper identification, collection and chain-of-custody procedures of the evidence being analyzed. Hilbert blends the two areas with a strong emphasis on crime scene investigation and how it relates to the forensic lab.
Hilbert’s cybersecurity students get practical hands-on experience in our dedicated lab to simulate security breaches.
